On Sunday, October 18, 2020, representatives of the Cobb Interfaith Habitat Coalition celebrated the Dedication of the 20th Habitat home built by the ecumenical, wonderfully diverse CIHC group. St. Catherine's own Swiss Britt participated in the Dedication program by presenting a Bible to the 2020 Homeowner, as a foundation for hope and faith for her and her family. Due to COVID-19, attendance at the event was capped at 25 people, and except for a brief moment for photos, everyone wore masks, kept their distance from each other, and refreshments were planned in line with best current practices...including a sheet cake with photo of the home on it from St. Catherine's.
Thank you to everyone with St. Catherine's who made this year's Habitat build possible, including the budgeted Outreach contribution and individual donations by parishioners. Special thanks to David Daniels for attending CIHC monthly meetings to plan this year's home build.
If you would like to support the Cobb Interfaith Habitat Coalition home build fund, commemorative 20th Anniversary T-shirts with the CIHC motto "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build" are available for purchase at $25.00 each with sizes on first come, first serve basis. To request your T-shirt, please contact Connie Bergeron.
The Dedication of each Habitat home built includes the following Habitat Litany, which I was honored to lead the prayer of, and I invite you to read the lines as well.
Leader: Dear God, when I have food,
People: Help me remember the hungry.
Leader: When I have work,
People: Help me remember the jobless.
Leader: When I have a warm home,
People: Help me remember the homeless.
Leader: When I have a loving family,
People: Help me remember those who are torn apart.
Leader: When I live in peace,
People: Help me remember those who live with war.
Leader: When I am without pain,
People: Help me remember those who suffer.
Leader: And remembering . . .
People: Help me destroy my complacency and stir my compassion.
All: Make me concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry
out for what we take for granted.
